Tonga - Migration

There is considerable movement toward the larger towns as population pressure on agricultural land increases. Some ethnic non-Tongans born on the islands migrate mainly to Fiji and New Zealand. Emigration by Tongan workers, both skilled and unskilled, has long been of concern to the government. In 1989 approximately 39,400 Tongans lived in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. There are expatriate Tongan communities in Brisbane and Sydney (Australia), Auckland (New Zealand), San Francisco (United States), and on Hawaii. Persons wishing to reside in Tonga must obtain a government permit; permission is granted only to those taking up approved employment. Immigrant settlement is not encouraged because of the land shortage. The net migration rate in 1999 was -1.19 migrants per 1,000 population. There were an estimated 2,000 migrants in Tonga in the year 2000. The government views the migration levels as satisfactory.

I'm doing an assesment on Tongan migration at school and this information was very helpful.
I just have a few questions to ask you. How did the Tongan immigrants adapt to living in New Zealand when they first arrived?
Did they find living in New Zealand to be a lot easier than living in Tonga?
How many people are still living in Tonga?

please comment back as soon as possible :)

I am doing an assignment on Tongan migrants to New Zealand. So would any Tongan people prefer to answer me several questions?
1. How long have you been in NZ? Do you enjoy your life here? Why?
2. What does NZ impress you most?
3. Do you miss your families? Do you still keep in touch with them?
4. Would you like to tell me someting about your own country such as the King? And what's the King's role in your society?
5. Which kinds of traditions or customs of Tonga you miss most? And why? Do you still hold on that?
6. What are the similarities and differences between NZ and Tongan culture?
7. What influences has Tongan culture had on NZ culture?
8. How has Tongan culture changed since Tongans have move to NZ?
If you can answer my questions, I'll be very appreciate you! Waiting for your reply.
