Mexico is located in North America and is bordered to the north by the United States. The country is considered to be part of North America, along with Canada and the United States. Mexico has over 200,000 different species of animals and approximately 2,500 of these species are protected by the Mexican government. The country has one of the biggest tourism industries in the world and receives over 20 million visitors each year.

The city of Cancun is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. The area is known as a beach lovers paradise and offers several public and private beaches such as; Las Perlas, Langosta, Tortugas, Caracol and Nizuc. The commercial center of Mexico is El Centro, here visitors can enjoy color malls and various shops.

The Xcarnet Eco Park is full of Mexican culture and Mayan ruins. Guests are invited to swim with dolphins and take walking tours to view the beautiful flora and fauna. Xcarnet also has an underground river, a Mayan Village tour and an Aquarium.

There are three major areas where tourists can view Mayan ruins. The Chichen Itza ruins are a perfect example of the Mayan civilization after the Spanish landed in the Yucatan Peninsula. El Castillo is a giant pyramid that was used by the Mayans for human sacrifice and is the dominating structure at this location. Tulum is a Mayan city that was built between 1200 and 1500 AD. The structure is a walled city and is the only site built by the ocean. To complete the tour, guests can visit the National Museum of Anthropology and History and the exhibits focus on genuine artifacts from the Mayan and Mesoamerican culture.

Mexico City is famous for being the home to many Mexican Palaces. Zocalo is located in the heart of Mexico City and is the largest plaza in the world. Here is the Palacio Nacional, or National Palace which was built in 1693, within this structure are murals of Mexican history that were painted by Diego Luna and other rooms filled with relics of the past. The Casa de los Azulejos, or Palace of Tiles, was built in 17th century and is famous for being decorated with hand painted yellow, blue and white tiles. This area also has several notable museums to visit such as; Museo del Templo Mayor, Museo Nacional de Arte and the Museo Franz Mayer.

The city of Acapulco is know for its romantic resorts and has beautiful beaches, a rich history and is a popular area for cliff diving. Roqueta Isle is well known for its scuba and snorkeling opportunities. There are also glass bottom boat tours available that allows visitors to see the various array of marine life that makes its home beneath the clear waters. The Isla Roqueta Zoo is the only island museum in the world and visitors can ascend a hill and view an extensive assortment of snakes, elephants, monkeys, giraffes and many other animals. At night on the island it is very popular for tourists to dine at the La Perla Restaurant, at sunset guests will witness locals perform various feats of bravado as the dive from the steep cliffs and into the dark ocean waters of the evening.

The country offers many different types of accommodations such as villas, hotels and inns. The Fiesta Inn, located in Tijuana is located near the border of San Diego, California. With the nation of Mexico having a very rich history and temperate climate, travelers will enjoy excellent colonial architecture, ancient Mayan civilization ruins and various festivals and other activities, all of which combine to make a marvelous vacation.
