The country of Malaysia is comprised of thirteen islands and three federal territories and is located in Southeast Asia. Previously Malaysia was a set of colonies established by the UK, until it became independent in 1963. Malaysia has no formal citizenship, every citizen is issued a MyKad, which is a biometric smart chip identity card, these cards must be carried by everyone age 12 and over.

Malaysia is a country well known for its festivals and holiday celebrations, which draw tourists from all over the world every year. The best known holiday is, “Hari Kebangsaan”, which is the Malaysian Independence Day. Every year on August 31st, the commemoration of the Federation of Malaya is held, while on Malaysia Day, September 6th, is that state holiday celebrating the forming of Malaysia in 1963.

The Chinese population in Malaysia, celebrate with festivals that other Chinese observe around the world. The Chinese New Year is the most celebrated of all festivals, lasting for fifteen days and ending with Chap Goh Mei, which is a lantern festival. During this festival children walk the streets to the local temples holding traditional paper lanterns and solving the riddles, written in Chinese script on the lanterns. Other traditional festivals celebrated by the Chinese in Malaysia are; Qingming Festival (Clear and Bright Festival), which is held 104 days after the winter solstice, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Kuala Lumpur is famously known as the “Asian Tiger” city, it is the capital of Malaysia and the largest city. Tourism plays an important part of the economy in Kuala Lumpur, as it provides revenue, jobs and business opportunities. Kuala Lumpur is also a host of many popular tourist attractions in Malaysia such as; National Science Museum, Zoo Negara, Thean Hou Temple, Federal Territory Mosque and the Kuala Lumpur Tower. There are also trendy nightclubs, such as the Hard Rock Cafe, Zouk and the Beach Club, which was voted the best bar in Asia. Another popular pastime that tourists can enjoy is shopping, Kuala Lumpur has over sixty-six shopping malls, quaint shops and a number of exclusive boutiques to peruse.

The Perdana Lake Gardens is also located in Kuala Lumpur and is one of its top tourist draws. It is a 92 hectare manicured park located near the Malaysian Parliament building. Inside the gardens, tourists can enjoy the Butterfly Garden, a Deer Park, a Hibiscus Garden, and Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, which is the largest bird park in Southeast Asia. There are also three forests inside the park; Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, Bukit Sungai Besi Forest Reserve and Bukit Putih Forest Reserve. The Bukit Nanas reserve is one of the oldest virgin forests in the city.

There are many five-star hotels located throughout Malaysia that offer exquisite amenities and comfortable accommodations. Some of the most popular hotels are the Berjaya Time Sqaure, the Langkasuka Beach Resort, the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort, Swiss Garden Hotel KL, Ancasa Hotel Kuala Lumpur and the A'Famosa Resort. The country of Malaysia is a virtual paradise awash with rainforests, parks, islands and beaches which is why it is fast becoming one of the most desirable spots for tourists to visit.
