Cyprus is an island nation surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and is the most visited by tourists. The island of Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate and is known for its ancient ruins.

Near the town of Episkopi are the ruins of Kourion. Kourion is well known for its well preserved mosaics. Other sites to see include the public baths, the Fountain House, the Nymphaeum, the necropolis, the House of Achilles, and the House of Gladiators. The best site to see in Kourion is the Greco-Roman amphitheater. The amphitheater has been fully restored and is now used for open air concerts and theatrical performances.

The Troodos Mountains in Cyprus are great for skiing. The snow in the Troodos Mountains falls from mid December to March. The mountain has four slopes all with a t-bar lift system and a place to rent equipment. There are two slopes on the Sun Valley side of the mountain and two on the north face of Mount Olympus. The unique thing about traveling to Cyprus in the wintertime is being able to ski in the morning and by afternoon being able to sunbathe on a warm beach.

Kolossi Castle is located right outside the city of Limassol. This medieval castle was built by the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in 1454 AD. The stone work in this castle is well preserved. The many staircases and battlements are a joy to discover. The grounds of Kolossi Castle are serene and offer a great place to take pictures.

Phinikoudes Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Cyprus. The beach has fine grey sand and swaying palm trees set against bright blue waters. The waves are clam and the water temperature is nice and warm. Phinikoudes Beach is popular for its many restaurants, cafes, and shops. The beach is also the sight for the two week, Larnaka Kataklysmos Fair that is held during the month of June. The beach is a great way to people watch or just lounging basking in the sunshine.

The Tomb of the Kings is a huge necropolis located northwest of Paphos harbor. The underground tombs are dated back to the 4th century B.C. and carved out of solid rock. No kings were actually buried at the site. The name comes from the shear magnificence of the tombs. Excavations are still being carried out on the tombs. The tombs mimic houses with large rock columns and frescos by ancient artists. Visitors are encouraged to wander the many rooms of the tombs.

The Venus Beach Hotel is located in Paphos on the west side of Cyprus. This hotel is close to many attractions such as Tomb of the Kings, the Medieval Fort, and the House of Dionysos just to name a few. This is luxury at its best on Cyprus.
