Burkina Faso, is more commonly known simply by the name Burkina and landlocked in West Africa. The geography of Burkina Faso is comprised of gently rolling hills and in some areas there are mountains and valleys. The climate has distinct periods of rain, sun and experiences a mild climate most of the year.

In the capital city of Ouagadougou is the Ethnology Museum, which has an large and interesting collection of Mossi artifacts. There is also a National History Museum in Lycee Bogodogo and a Snake Museum College de la Salle that are well worth visiting.

The Moro-Naba ceremony takes place every Friday morning outside the gates of the Moro-Naba Palace. This ceremony is always interesting with its traditional costumes and drum players. Mossi tribal leaders travel to the compound of the chief and once there are seated by rank. The participants wear red and appear with a horse, in a battle ready pose. A cannon is fired, the chiefs declare a pledge of allegiance and then leave briefly and reappearing now dressed in white. Beer and koala nuts are served and then court is held. The whole ceremony takes place over a one hour time span and it begins promptly at dawn, so for the early rising tourist this would be an interesting event to behold.

The Musee de Manega is located 34 miles north-west of Ouagadougou, in the village of Menega. The museum was founded by Frederic Pacere Titinga, a local solicitor and writer with over twenty works published. It was because of his interest in his culture and musical instruments. The museum has exhibits that focus on the “The Boura Flutes”, around 40 funeral pieces, jars, drums, bracelets and artifacts that were used during rituals by the inhabitants of the Niger Valley. Most of these relics date from the 2nd to the 11th century. There is also a display of 200 year-old Mossi rifles on exhibit, a hall devoted completely to Burkinabe culture and the Youyousne pavilion which houses an art collection based around the elements of life and spirituality.

The former Association for the Development of African Architecture and Urban Planning building was renovated and turned into the National Museum of Music. It is located in Ougagougou and in the heart of the city and easily accessible to the general public. The first collection was amassed in 1998 and put on display in 1999 and is growing. There are instruments from the following groups; membranophones, idiophones, chordophones and aerophones. Each instrument is the only one of its kind and represents ages from five to over two-hundred years old.

Burkina Faso is home to some of the best parks in Africa such as; Arli National Park, Arly-Singou, Bontioli Reserve, Boulon Forest, Dibon Forest, Diefloula Forest, Kabore Tambi National Park, Laba Forest and the Paba Reserve. Any of these national parks allow visitors to experience nature first hand through biking trails and guided tours. Tourists are invited to participate in informative activities designed to raise interest in animal protection and park preservation.
