Business entry rate shows the number of new firms, defined as firms registered in the current year of reporting, expressed as a percentage of total registered firms. Data are collected on firm entry and exit and total firms. Because of underreporting of firms that have closed or exited, especially in developing countries, the data on total registered firms may be biased upward.
