Vanuatu - Political parties



The country saw six political parties be represented in parliament at the 30 April 2002 elections: the Union of Moderate Parties (UMP, Serge Vohor); the National United Party (NUP, led by Father Walter Lini until his death in February 1999; thereafter by Dinh Van Than); the Vanua'aku Party (VP, Edward Natapei); Melanesian Progressive Party (MPP, Barak Sope); the Vanuatu Republic Party (Maxime Carlot Korman), and the Green Party. Also represented in Vanuatu are the Jon Frum Movement (Song Keaspai); the Friend Melanesian Party (FMP, Albert Ravutia); and the Tan Union (TU, Vincent Boulekone).
