Dominica - Public finance



Operating revenues come mostly from customs duties, excise taxes, and other taxes and fees for government services. The leading areas of expenditure are education, health, public services, housing, and defense.

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) estimates that in 1997/1998 Dominica's central government took in revenues of approximately $72 million and had expenditures of $79.9 million including capital expenditures of $11.5 million. Overall, the government registered a deficit of approximately $7.9 million. External debt totaled $150 million.
