The country of India is bound by the Arabian Sea to the west and the Indian Ocean to the south. India has a coastline of 4,671 miles. This country is the second most populous nation in the world. India is also home to ancient trade routes and empires.

Sitting on the banks of the Yamuna River the Agra Fort is an architectural wonder in stone. The fort was built by Akbar in 1565 A.D. The structure is made out of sandstone and is surrounded by a 70 foot high wall. The fort houses Pearl Mosque, and many other palaces including Moti Masjid, Jahangiri Mahal, Diwan-i-khas, and Diwan-i-Am. The best time to visit Agra Fort is from November to February.

The Lakshadweep Islands are one of Indias most exotic diving spots. There are 36 islands in this chain. The palm tree dotted beaches offer a cool retreat on a hot summer day. With 36 coral islands to choose from, there is an island for everyone. The unique marine life in this distinctive island chain is a divers dream. The temperature on the Lakshadweep Islands is summer like all year round. Anytime of the year would be perfect to visit these stunning islands.

The cities of Rajasthan are surrounded by the golden sands of the Great Indian Desert. The landscape is dotted with opulent palaces and still has the aura of a magical place out of a fairytale. The ancient desert cities are what legends are made of. Rather it be a sunset camel ride or exploring one of the many ancient fortresses, the cities of Rajasthan is one Indias hidden jewels of the desert.

The world famous Taj Mahal is a must see when visiting India. The mausoleum is located in Agra, India. The structure was built by Shah Jahan. The emperor became grief stricken when his third wife Mumtaz Mahal died during childbirth of their 14th child in 1631. Construction was soon started on the mausoleum shortly after Mumtaz Mahal's death. The inside of the Taj Mahal is encrusted with precious and semiprecious gemstones. This building is one of the best examples of Mughal architecture to be found in all of India. The landscaping and the exotic gardens are a sight to behold. The raised walking paths divide the four quarters of the garden. There is a raised water tank in the middle in the center of the garden called al Hawd al-Kwathar, in reference to the “Tank of Abundance” promised to Muhammad. It is best to visit the Taj Mahal in the cooler months of October, November, and February.

The nightlife in Colaba is one of a kind. The clubs range from savvy nightclubs to working class dives. In the evening 141 year old Leopold is a mix of backpackers and locals. The cafe has became a landmark for tourists of all types. The Henry Tham is an upscale DJ bar that is known for its wonderful cocktails. The nightclub even has vibrating massage chairs sprinkled throughout. At Polly Esther's the club pays homage to anything from the 1980's. From the cheesy dycor and music, to the light up dance floor this club was designed for fun. The nightlife in Colaba offers lots of variety.

The Gordon House Hotel is a great alternative to staying in one of the larger five star hotels. The boutique style hotel is located in Colaba and close to shopping and the Indian nightlife. The Devi Garh in Delwara was once a desert fortress built in 1760's. Now, an upscale hotel, the Devi Garh has spectacular views of the Aravalli Hills.

The country of India attracts tourists from all over the world. To the Taj Mahal or the camel rides in the desert, there is lots to see and do for all ages. India is truly as beautiful as the majestic peacock. A trip to India would delight all types of tourists.
