England is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, it is most commonly referred to as the UK or United Kingdom. England, an island state is located off the northern coast of Europe and is a sovereign nation. The UK consists of four separate countries; England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is bordered by the North Sea, Celtic Sea, Irish Sea and the Bristol and English Channel.

England is home to some very impressive history and culture, which have left the mark of time on this country. Stonehenge, is from the Neolithic and Bronze age and is a prehistoric monument. Although nobody is exactly sure what Stonehenge is, there have been many speculations by researchers and anthropologists around the world. It was made by a culture that left no written language, construction took several hundreds of years and there have been roman coins and medieval artifacts found around the site.

England also has some wonderful cathedrals that are a wealth of history and an outward display of the popular artistic time periods involved in their creation. St. Paul's Cathedral, is the largest and most well-known in England, and its exterior is an excellent example of the Gothic-style. Westminster Abbey, which was founded by Edward the Confessor, in 1065, this is home to most of the previous sovereigns who have died. Westminster Abbey is also been the scene for many royal weddings and coronation events as well.

England is considered to be the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and was home to many famous inventors of the 18th and 19th century. Charles Babbage, was a 19th century inventor who is credited with the first computer. Sir Isaac Newton, who is the father of universal gravitation, Newtonian mechanics and infinitesimal calculus. James Dyson, inventor of the Dyson vacuum cleaner was also born in England. You can view many of their inventions at the British Museum, which is one of England's greatest tourist attractions.

In England there are many great hotels and bed and breakfasts located all over the country. In London the Henry VIII Hotel is centrally located to underground railway stations and is a short walk from Hyde Park. The Lincoln House B&B also in London offers a unique lodging experience.

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of Great Britain's sovereigns since 1837. During the Annual Summer Opening in August and September, Buckingham Palace opens up the state rooms to visitors. The other rooms of the palace are open to the public on a regular basis.

The city of Liverpool offers a Beatles fan many places to visit. This legendary band hails from the blue collar side of the city. The Casbah Coffee Club is a must see. The club is owned by the former Beatle Pete Best. The Casbah Coffee Club is the only venue the Beatles have played that has remained unchained. T shirts, signed photos, and many other types of memorabilia can be purchased at the end of the tour. Another tour to go on is the Mendips & 20 Forthlin Road. This takes fans to the childhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

England is a temperate climate with plenty of rain falling year round. It also has seasonal temperatures that fluctuate with the coming and going of each season. Although temperatures rarely ever fall below 23 degrees or climb above 86 degrees. For tourists, the best time to travel to London is during the summer months of July and August when the weather is at its most pleasant.
