Adult mortality rate is the probability of dying between the ages of 15 and 60--that is, the probability of a 15-year-old dying before reaching age 60, if subject to current age-specific mortality rates between those ages. Source: World Bank staff estimates from various sources including census reports, the United Nations Statistics Division's Population and Vital Statistics Report, the United Nations Population Division’s World Population Prospects (WPP), country statistical offices, and Demographic and Health Surveys from national sources and Macro International, and the Human Mortality Database (HMD) by the University of California, Berkeley, and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (www.mortality.org.)
