Poland - Ethnic groups

Before World War II, over 30% of the people living within the boundaries of Poland were non-Poles. As a result of World War II, and of the boundary changes and population transfers that followed, Poland today is a predominantly homogeneous state with only about 2% of the population being non-Polish. According to the most recent estimates, Poles constitute 97.6% of the total population; Germans make up 1.3%; Ukrainians account for 0.6%; and Belarussians, 0.5%.
