Guyana - Religions



Christians constitute approximately 50% of the total population, of whom about 33% are Anglicans, 25% are Roman Catholics, and 25% are Pentecostals and Baptists. There are smaller groups of Methodists, Presbyterians, Seventh-Day Adventists, Lutherans, Mormons, and Jehovah's Witnesses. Hindus make up some 33% of the population, and Muslims (Sunni and Shi'a) about 15%. There is a small community of Baha'is. Substantial numbers of the populace also practice Rastafarianism and the traditional Caribbean religion known as Obeah, either exclusively or in conjunction with the practice of other faiths.
