Colombia - International cooperation



Colombia is a charter member of the UN, having joined on 5 November 1945, and participates in BCIE, CAN, Caricom (observer), CCC, CDB, ECLAC, FAO, G-3, G-24, G-77, IADB, IAEA, IBRD, ICAO, ICC, ICFTU, ICRM, IDA, IFAD, IFC, IFRCS, IHO, ILO, IMF, IMO, Interpol, IOC, IOM, ISO, ITU, LAES, LAIA, NAM, OAS, OPANAL, OPCW, PCA, RG, UN, UN Security Council (temporary), UNCTAD, UNESCO, UNHCR, UNIDO, UNU, UPU, WCL, WFTU, WHO, WIPO, WMO, WToO, and WTrO. It was the only Latin American country to participate actively in the Korean War and the Suez Canal crisis. In Korea, a regiment of 1,000, three times relieved, was continuously in action. Colombia has been active in the OAS since its formation at Bogotá in 1948.
